It's a World Record - India wins Gold at Air Rifle in the Asian Games 2023

India clinched its first gold medal at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, thanks to the outstanding performance of the men's 10m air rifle team. Comprised of Rudrankksh Balasaheb Patil, Divyansh Singh Panwar, and Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, the trio's combined score in the individual qualification round reached an impressive 1893.7 points. This score surpassed the previous world record, established by China just last month during the Baku World Championship, by a margin of 0.4 points.

China, the former record holder, not only lost its world record but also dropped from its position on the Asian Record and Games Record charts following this event.

Rudrankksh stood out among the team members by securing third place in the qualification round with an impressive score of 632.5. Aishwary performed admirably with 631.6 points, earning him a fifth-place finish. Although Divyansh's score of 629.6 points qualified him for the final, he won't be eligible for an individual medal, as only two shooters from each National Olympic Committee (NOC) can advance to the final round.

China's Sheng Lihao, the silver medalist at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, claimed the top spot in the qualification round with an impressive score of 634.5 points, setting new Asian and Games records in the process.
