There’s nothing quite like a last-minute winner. Absolute drama!

Iran's Amazing Comeback: Still Alive, a Dream of an Asian Title
Hidemasa Morita scored the only goal of the first half, giving Japan a 1-0 lead over Iran. Then, Mohammad Mohebi of Iran tied the game ten minutes into the second half. This was the start of a great game in Iran. It took extra time, and Kou Itakura fouled Hossein Kanaanizadegan in the box. Jahanbakhsh then scored the winning penalty. Iran still wants to win their first Asian title since 1976, and this win keeps them on track to do so. Mehdi Taremi was suspended, but Iran was still strong and determined to beat Japan, which came into the competition as the favourite and the reigning champion. They will definitely feel better about their chances of making it to the semi-finals after this win.
Physical Approach and Defensive Play
Japan looked scared at first when Iran attacked them physically, but they were strong enough to handle it. The Iran defence was taken off guard, which let Morita score after a weak challenge. Japan is going to be upset that they didn't do well enough to win their fifth Asian Cup.
Who will play next, and who will be in the semi-finals?
Iran will play either the hosts, Qatar, or Uzbekistan in the semi-finals. Qatar and Uzbekistan will play each other after the game on Saturday. The winner will play Iran next. In the other semifinal match, South Korea will go up against Jordan.
