IPL 2024: RCB share's cryptic post, likely to change its franchise name

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) is noted for its devoted fan following, which is drawn to the franchise for a variety of reasons, including its moniker. But the RCB intimated that they may rename the team in a mysterious post they made on X, the former Twitter, on Friday.

Through their official X-handle, RCB released a video in which the actor Rishabh Shetty is seen courting the name Bangalore. "Have you understood what Rishabh Shetty is trying to say? Discover more at RCB Unbox. Purchase your tickets right away," the team wrote in the post.

Franchise name change

The video prompted discussion on social media, with RCB fans attempting to make sense of it. The majority of the guesses suggested that, to be consistent with the city's name, the franchise might think about replacing "Bangalore" with "Bengaluru."

Even though the city's name was changed to Bengaluru in 2014, the RCB has retained the name Royal Challengers Bangalore from the commencement of the IPL in 2008.

RCB vs CSK IPL 2024

The RCB's name change or no change will be announced during the RCB Unbox on March 19, two days before their IPL 2024 opener against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the M. A. Chidambaram International Cricket Stadium in Chennai.

RCB is renowned for having a devoted fan base that turns out in large numbers to cheer for their team each IPL season. The fact that RCB hasn't been able to win an IPL title despite having some of the best players in the world is another topic of jokes directed towards the franchise.
