The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Tuesday that wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant is fit for the forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL), which begins March 22. However, Mohammed Shami and Prasidh Krishna, both fast bowlers, will miss the event owing to injuries. Rishabh Pant hasn't played a game since an accident following the Bangladesh series.
"After undergoing an extensive 14-month rehab and recovery process, following a life-threatening road mishap on December 30th, 2022, near Roorkee, Uttarakhand, Rishabh Pant has now been declared fit as a wicket-keeper batter for the upcoming IPL 2024," the BCCI said in a statement.

Pant participated in a few warm-up matches and is expected to be available for the March 23 opening game between Delhi Capital and Punjab Kings in Mohali. A fit Pant, now 26, would be a key player for the Indian squad in the ICC T20 World Cup, which will be hosted in the West Indies and the United States later this year in June.
"It will be huge for us if he can represent India in the T20 World Cup. He is a huge advantage for us," BCCI secretary Jay Shah remarked in a conversation on the sidelines of India vs. England's fifth Test match in Dharmsala.
Prasidh Krishna ruled out
During Karnataka's Ranji Trophy 2024 match against Gujarat at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Prasidh Krishna suffered a quadriceps injury. He underwent surgery and will miss the IPL.
"The fast bowler will not be able to participate in the upcoming IPL 2024 after undergoing surgery on his left proximal quadriceps tendon on February 23, 2024. He is currently being monitored by the BCCI Medical Team and will resume rehab at the National Cricket Academy soon," the BCCI stated.
