The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the highly anticipated schedule for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The BCCI has revealed the IPL 2024 schedule, which only covers the first 15 days of the tournament. Once the dates for the General Elections are confirmed, the rosters for the remaining matches will be made public.
The IPL 2024's major impediment was that it was scheduled to coincide with the Lok Sabha elections. It has previously happened twice, resulting in disorganized decision-making. In contrast to the 2009 edition, which was held wholly in South Africa, the 2014 IPL was split into two halves, one held in the United Arab Emirates and the other back in India.
In 2019, the two events did not overlap, therefore the IPL, which began on March 23, was fully played in India. While there were speculations this year, IPL chairman Arun Dhumal reaffirmed once and for all that the IPL will not be relocated abroad, but the entire picture will only be revealed once more information is available.
IPL 2024 Inaugral game: CSK vs RCB
The inaugural game of the IPL 2024 will take place on March 22 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium between the reigning champion Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
The tournament's first game will kick off at 8 p.m. IST, with the other matches commencing at 7.30 p.m. IST for evening games and 3.30 p.m. IST for the afternoon game on days where there are doubleheaders.
MS Dhoni will return to action on the tournament's first day. To resume training with his team, he is scheduled to arrive in Chennai during the first week of March. He had knee surgery shortly after leading CSK to the championship last season.
