Aiden Markram is a South African cricketer who captains the South African national Twenty20 Cricket team and plays for the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League. Markram rose to popularity after he captained South Africa's U-19 cricket team to victory in the 2014 ICC Under-19 World Cup.
On September 11, 2021, Markram was named to the Punjab Kings' roster for the second phase of the 2021 Indian Premier League in the UAE. In February 2022, he was purchased by the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL auction. After leading Sunrisers Eastern Cape to the SA20 championship, he then captained the Hyderabad team last year.
Markram in SRH vs CSK match:
During Sunrisers Hyderabad's six-wicket victory over Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League 2024 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, batter Aiden Markram claimed that the team's objective was to attack.
The former captain of the SRH, who amassed an important fifty runs off of thirty-six balls, stressed that they planned to attack, especially in the opening ten overs of the innings.
Aiden Markram led the run chase, and SRH scored the runs in 18.1 overs. His 60-run partnership with opener Travis Head (31 off 24 balls) for the second wicket came in seven overs after Abhishek thrashed a listless Mukesh Chaudhary for 27 runs in his debut. Head and Markram consolidated the innings without taking any risks, reaching 78 for 1 after six overs. With a huge six off Ravindra Jadeja's bowling in the ninth over, Markram helped the SRH reach their 100 runs.
Markram hit his first fifty of the season in the 14th over, as CSK spinners struggled to get wickets. However, the South African batsman who led the SRH last season was out in the same over, bowled by colleague Moeen Ali (2/23), who overturned an LBW review that the SRH had taken.
SRH's convincing win advanced them to fifth place in the IPL 2024 standings, with two wins and two losses in four games for four points. With a superior run rate but the same win-loss ratio, CSK is currently ranked third.
