India's Women's Football Team Beats UEFA Team for the First Time in Turkish Women’s Cup

India defeated Estonia 4-3 in a tough match on Wednesday to begin their campaign in the Turkish Women's Cup football competition thanks to a brace from Manisha Kalyan. After losing to Belarus, Ukraine, and Romania, India's senior women's team defeated a UEFA team for the first time.

India appeared to be in command after leading 4-1 in the 81st minute, but Estonia stunned them with goals in the 88th and 90th minutes at the Gold City Sports Complex. India took the lead in the seventeenth minute thanks to Kalyan, a player in the top division of Cyprus who has participated in the UEFA Champions League. Lisette Tammik pulled one back in the 32nd minute, but India had already taken a 4-1 lead with two goals from Pyari Xaxa (79), Indumathi Kathiresan (62), and Kalyan (81). Vlada Kubassova (88') and Mari Liis Lillemae (90') of Estonia retaliated.

In the second half, India took control of the midfield and surged ahead when Soumya Guguloth, Tamang, and Xaxa combined to free Kathiresan, who struck a left-footed long-range shot into the bottom corner. India's next game is scheduled for this coming Saturday against Hong Kong.
