After losing to Thailand in the semifinals in Jinhua on October 6, the Indian regu team won their first medal ever in women's sepaktakraw at the Asian Games with a bronze.In the semifinal match, the Indian women's teams Ayekpam Maipak Devi, Oinam Chaoba Devi, Khushbu, Elangbam Priya Devi, and Elangbam Leirentombi Devi fell short 10-21, 13-21. India needed to finish below Vietnam in their group in order to proceed to the semifinals. The competition's winners are currently representing Thailand. The two teams posed for a photo just after the game.
"Our athletes wanted to remember their semifinal battle against Thailand. They are the top athletes in the world, so it was an honour for our squad to compete against them, according to main coach Hem Raj, who argued with the referee during the game.
A bronze medal is given to each of the two semifinalists in sepaktakraw.At the Asian Games, India won its second sepaktakraw medal overall, with this achievement being the first in the women's division. During the 2018 Asian Games, the Indian men's rugby team took home bronze.
