India performed a thrilling performance to play out a goalless draw with England in the Hockey World Cup 2023. The hosts showcased some impressive hockey but failed to score the opener against the World No.5 side. England has retained the top spot in Group D, while India is second.
Oliver Payne of England was adjudged Player of the Match.
India is in second place in Group D, and the hosts will play Wales on January 19 in their next match at the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium. The game ended in a tie, so England is still in first place in the group. In the first Pool D match of the Hockey World Cup 2023, Spain defeated Wales 5-1.
