The ICC Men's World Cup 2023 is almost here! All 10 captains got together at the biggest cricket stadium in the world in Ahmedabad today to get ready for the biggest cricket tournament ever.
In the next 45 days, 48 matches will take place across 10 world-class venues. Interestingly, it begins with a repeat of the 2019 Final, as England takes on New Zealand in the tournament’s opener at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad tomorrow.
Ravi Shastri and Eoin Morgan grilled the 10 captains as they prepared to face off against each other on the ground in the next seven weeks.
Additionally, various reports surfacing online suggest, there will be no Opening Ceremony for the ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2023, even though there is no official statement has released by BCCI yet.
According to a report published in the Outlook, the BCCI had planned to have an opening ceremony for the World Cup on October 4th, which would have been the day before the 1st match of the tournament.
However, the Opening Ceremony has now been cancelled. Instead, the BCCI is now reportedly planning for an event before the India vs Pakistan World Cup match that is scheduled for October 14 at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
There was a lot going on at the event, from discussing the team's mindset going into the tournament to talking about Indian hospitality and the delicious biryani.
India being the host as well as tournament favourite, skipper Rohit Sharma said that the team is thrilled to play and is not worried about the pressures surrounding them. "We were excited! Cricket is one of the biggest sports in India. The World Cup is happening in India after 12 years and I am not surprised," he quoted.
