Historic Achievement for India in Asian Games: Medal Tally 81

 On Day 11 of the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, India achieved its highest-ever medal tally with a total of 81 medals, surpassing their previous record of 70 medals from the 2018 Jakarta edition. Now India stands fourth in the overall standings, boasting 18 gold, 31 silver, and 32 bronze medals, marking a historic achievement in Asian Games history.

  • The day starts with a silver medal for India in the mixed team 35km race walk final, of Ram Baboo and Manju Rani.

  • Next, Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Ojas Pravin clinched gold in the compound mixed-team archery event, defeating their opponents, 159-158.
  • Anahat Singh and Abhay Singh secured a bronze medal for India, in the mixed doubles squash semifinal,
  • Parveen Hooda added to India's medal tally with a bronze in the women's 57kg category but lost to two-time world champion Lin Yu Ting of Chinese Taipei in the semifinals.
  • In the women’s 75 kg Boxing final, Lovlina Borgohain claimed a silver medal 
  • Sunil Kumar won a bronze medal in the men's 87kg greco-roman wrestling by defeating a wrestler from Kyrgyzstan in the semifinal.
  • Harmilan Bains earned her second silver medal in Hangzhou, just like her previous success in the women's 1500m final, but this time in the women's 800m final.

  • Avinash Sable, previously a gold medalist in the men's 3000m steeplechase, secured a silver medal in the Men's 5000m event, recording a time of 13:21.09s.
  • The Indian women's 4×400 relay team maintained their silver streak, setting a new Asian Games record at 3:27:85 and finishing second to Bahrain.
  • In the men's 4×400 relay final, the Indian team comprising Muhammed Anas, Rajesh Ramesh, Amoj Jacob, and Muhammed Ajmal clinched the gold medal with a time of 3:01.58s.
  • To cap off the day, India achieved a double podium finish in the men's javelin throw final, with Neeraj Chopra winning gold with a season-best throw of 88.88m and Kishore Jena taking silver with a personal best of 87.54m.
