India's all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been ruled out of the remainder of the ICC World Cup 2023 due to an ankle injury sustained during a match against Bangladesh. The tournament's technical committee has approved India's request to replace Pandya with fast bowler Prasidh Krishna.
Krishna has played 17 ODIs and 2 T20Is for India, taking 33 international wickets. However, with the success of India's pace department consisting of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj, Krishna's chances of making it into the playing eleven are uncertain.
The Event Technical Committee's approval means that Krishna is available for selection in the crucial World Cup clash against South Africa. India is currently leading the 10-team table with 14 points and has upcoming matches against South Africa and the Netherlands in the round-robin stage.
