Football Legend Pele's cancer is worsening - What should you know about this guy?

Pele is a Brazilian football legend and widely considered one of the greatest players of all time.  A three-time FIFA World Cup champion and the only player to ever win three World Cup titles, he is also the all-time leading goalscorer for Brazil. 

 

Pele was diagnosed with colon cancer in September 2021, and his health has worsened in recent months due to kidney and cardiac dysfunctions.

He is currently undergoing chemotherapy treatment.

 

Edson Arantes do Nascimento aka Pele, a retired Brazilian professional footballer who is widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time. He played as a forward for Santos and the Brazil national team, and is known for his skill, pace, and goalscoring ability. 

 

Pelé is the all-time leading goalscorer for Brazil, with 77 goals in 92 appearances, and is the only player to have won the FIFA World Cup three times, in 1958, 1962, and 1970. 

During his professional career, which spanned over two decades, Pelé scored a total of 1,281 goals in 1,363 games. This includes 709 goals in 719 games for Santos, a Brazilian club, and 643 goals in 694 games for the New York Cosmos, a North American Soccer League team.

Some of Pelé's most memorable goals include his bicycle kick against Fluminense in 1963, his solo goal against Italy in the 1970 World Cup final, and his goal from the halfway line against Czechoslovakia in the 1958 World Cup.

He was named Athlete of the Century by the International Olympic Committee, and was also named one of the 100 Most Important People of the 20th Century by Time magazine.
 

Pelé is considered one of the greatest ambassadors of football, and has been involved in numerous charitable and philanthropic causes throughout his career.
