From the onset, World No. 4 India dictated the pace of the game, earning an early penalty corner in the third minute. However, captain Harmanpreet Singh's attempt was thwarted by a vigilant Irish defence. Despite Ireland's 11th ranking, they proved to be a resilient opponent, holding off the Indian attacks in the first quarter.
Ireland gradually found their footing, gaining more possession but failing to convert it into meaningful attacks. Their first real chance came in the 11th minute, but Matthew Nelson's shot missed the mark. India struggled to maintain possession in the midfield, resulting in a goalless first quarter.
The second quarter saw both teams probing for openings but failing to capitalize. India enjoyed better possession and earned two penalty corners, yet the Irish defence held firm. The third quarter mirrored the second, with India dominating possession but unable to break through the Irish defence.

Gurjant's Decisive Strike
The final quarter saw India ramping up the pressure, earning an early penalty corner which was saved by the Irish goalkeeper. In the 52nd minute, Rabichandra Moirangthem's stick tackle gifted Ireland their first penalty corner, but PR Sreejesh's stunning save denied them the equalizer.
In the 60th minute, India's persistence paid off as Gurjant Singh found the back of the net with a powerful strike, leaving the Irish team with no time to respond. Hardik Singh's precise pass inside the Irish circle was skillfully converted by Gurjant, securing a hard-fought victory for India.
