Virat Kohli, an Indian cricketer, has amassed 13,000 runs in ODIs at the fastest rate ever. During India's encounter against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2023 Super Four, Kohli reached this milestone. He broke Sachin Tendulkar's 2004 record, which had stood previously. Tendulkar accomplished it in his 321st inning, while Kohli did so in his 267th.
In addition to this record, Kohli also scored his 47th ODI century in the same match, bringing him closer to Tendulkar's record of 49 centuries in the format. Kohli reached his century by tapping the ball to the offside off Shaheen Shah Afridi's bowling.
Kohli came to bat after a strong start by Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma. However, both Gill and Sharma were dismissed, leaving Kohli to anchor the inning. Rain interrupted play, but when it resumed on the reserve day, Kohli started cautiously before accelerating his scoring rate. He reached his half-century off 55 balls and then went on to dominate the Pakistani bowlers.
Kohli also formed a 100-run partnership with KL Rahul, who was making a comeback after an injury layoff. The Indian team will be hoping that Kohli's form continues as they aim for success in the Asia Cup.
