Virat Kohli, the former captain of India, scored his third century in four games on Sunday (January 15) to lead India to a record-breaking 317-run victory over Sri Lanka in the third ODI.
With this, Kohli overtook Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar as the player who has scored the most centuries at home. Kohli has now scored 21 centuries in his home country, whereas Sachin had scored 20 centuries there. A spectator entered the field of play to touch Kohli's feet as his teammates watched as Sri Lanka chased 391 runs.
India whitewashed Sri Lanka 3-0 in the three-match ODI series. Virat Kohli scored his 46th ODI hundred to lead India to victory. Shubman Gill scored 116 runs in the first innings.
Mohammed Siraj bagged 4-32 in the second innings. Kuldeep Yadav picked up two wickets in the third ODI. Rohit and Gill shared a partnership of 152 runs in the first innings. India's victory is the biggest margin of victory in terms of runs in ODI history.
Virat Kohli is now three centuries away from equalling Sachin Tendulkar's record of most ODI hundreds. Team India spinner Kuldeep Yadav spun a web in the third ODI. Sri Lanka's captain Dasun Shanaka said they need to learn how to manage the start.
