The PFA Players' Player of the Year award has been given to Erling Haaland. With 36 goals in just 35 games, the Manchester City forward shattered the Premier League single-season goalscoring record in 2022–23. The honorary award, chosen by fellow professionals in the industry, honors his season-long contributions.
The Norwegian striker's debut season with City saw him score an amazing 52 goals. In a historic 2022–23 season for the club, Haaland assisted Pep Guardiola's team in winning the FA Cup, Premier League, and Champions League. For his efforts in blue, he also received the Premier League Player of the Season title.
Haaland said, “It’s an honour to win this prestigious award. To be recognised by your competitors is a great feeling and I would like to thank everyone who voted for me.
“It was an unforgettable season for the team and for me personally. Winning the Treble was something I never imagined, so to achieve that with such a special group of players was an amazing feeling.
“John, Rodri, Ruben and Kevin all deserve their place in the Team of the Year and I am delighted that their efforts have been rewarded with this recognition too.
“We created some incredible memories last season, but now we want to do the same again this year. We have started the season well and we need to keep going” he added.
