Border Gavaskar trophy: India thrash Australia by an innings and 132 runs

India has won the opening match of 4 match test series and have gone up 1-0 in the Border Gavaskar trophy in what looked almost a one sided encounter. Ravichandran Ashwin in the second innings bagged a 5fer to break down the Australian batting order completely.

India with a lead of almost 200 plus runs looked pretty dominant over the Australian bowling attack with them having no answers to the impactful performances of the Indian batters. Ravindra Jadeja in his comeback match also had 5 wickets to his name giving away just 47 odd runs at the economy of just 2.1 runs per over, He also scored brilliant 70 runs off 185 deliveries in what gave strength to the total of 400 runs of the Indian first innings.

A magnificent comeback by the India skipper Rohit Sharma set the tone for the test match in the first innings. Rohit Sharma had no concerns or talks on the pitch and absolutely chose his range of shots while batting on the decent-looking track at VCA stadium in Nagpur. Rohit said “It was absolutely necessary to choose the right shots on the presented pitch, that's how you could score runs"

The Next Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy will be held in Delhi and it will commence on February 17. The Australians have a lot of homework to do and they have got an extra couple of days too. Debutant Todd Murphy's brilliance was the only positive for the Pat Cummins-led team.
