On February 18, the powerful England captain Ben Stokes overtook his coach Brendon McCullum as the sole holder of the record for the most sixes struck in Test cricket.
When Stokes hooked seamer Scott Kuggeleijn over fine leg midway through the third day of the first Test against New Zealand at Mount Maunganui, he made his 108th six of his career. McCullum's 107 sixes were achieved in 176 innings across 101 Tests, while Stokes' required 90 Tests and 164 innings.
Ben Stokes is an English cricketer who also holds the world record for the most runs scored in the last innings of a test match to win a game. The record was set during the third Ashes test match between England and Australia at Headingley in 2019. In the match, Australia had declared their first innings at 179 for 8, and then bowled England out for 67 in their first innings, giving Australia a lead of 112 runs. Australia then set a target of 359 runs for England to win the match.
