Ravi Shastri: Lifetime Achievement Award

Ravi Shastri, a cricket icon at 61, has left an indelible mark on Indian cricket, both as a player and a coach. His illustrious playing career included 80 Tests and 150 ODIs for India, followed by successful stints in coaching and broadcasting post-retirement. Shastri served as the team director from 2014 to 2016 and later returned as the head coach alongside Virat Kohli until the T20 World Cup in 2021.

Under Shastri's coaching, Team India achieved remarkable milestones, notably consecutive Test series victories in Australia. Despite their commendable performances, the team fell short of winning an ICC title and faced defeat in the World Test Championship final against New Zealand in 2021. Shastri bid farewell in 2021, expressing immense pride in the team's accomplishments.

Shubman Gill: Cricketer of the Year

Shubman Gill, the promising Indian opener, will be crowned Cricketer of the Year. Gill made history during the ICC World Cup 2023 by becoming the fastest player to reach 2000 runs in ODIs. In 52 innings across formats, he emerged as the top scorer in world cricket in 2023, amassing 2154 runs at an average of 46.82, including seven centuries.

Gill's prowess in ODIs was particularly notable, with 1584 runs in 29 matches at an impressive average of 63.36, featuring five centuries. His journey into the Indian team began with remarkable performances in Under 19 cricket, including a triumph in the ICC Under 19 World Cup in 2018, and stellar displays in domestic cricket for Punjab. Gill made his India debut in January 2019 in Hamilton. This recognition comes as a testament to his exceptional contributions to Indian cricket.

The BCCI awards ceremony, the first since 2019, is anticipated to witness the presence of both the Indian and England teams ahead of the first Test starting on Thursday.
