BCCI's Heavy Hammer: Kohli, Gambhir, and Naveen-ul-Haq Punished for Ugly On-Field Altercation in IPL 2023

Despite being ex-colleagues for Delhi, Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir are still close friends. Following the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match between the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Lucknow on Monday night, the rivalry between the two teams, which dates back ten years, flared up once more.

A punishment has been imposed on Virat Kohli, Gautam Gambhir, and Naveen-ul-Haq for violating the IPL Code of Conduct during the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana stadium on Monday, where hostilities broke out during an IPL game. After the low-scoring thriller in which RCB defeated LSG by 18 runs, there was a violent debate. Additionally, the LSG's Naveen-ul-Haq and Kohli were seen arguing, which did not sit well with the IPL management.

The IPL Code of Conduct states that "Mr. Gambhir accepted the Level 2 offence and was fined 100% of his match money." In a similar manner, Mr. Kohli was found responsible for a Level 2 offence under Article 2.21 of the IPL Code of Conduct and fined 100% of the winnings from the game. On the other hand, the IPL revealed in a statement that Mr. Naveen-ul-Haq had been fined 50% of his match expenses for violating the IPL Code of Conduct during the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
