Indian fast bowler Avesh Khan has received his maiden Test call-up after Mohammed Shami was ruled out from the Test series due to an injury.
He has been added to the second Test squad against South Africa after team India suffered their worst defeat on South African soil on 28th December in Centurion.
Mohammed Shami has been ruled out due to an ankle injury.
Avesh played 3 ODI’s earlier this month and represented the India A side. Avesh is currently playing the second four-day game in Benoni where he took a fifer on the third day. He has played 38 first class games and has an average of 22.65 with seven five wicket hauls. He is the leading wicket taker for Madhya Pradesh in the previous Ranji Trophy season.
The Indian Cricket team has also been punished 2 World Test Championship points (WTC) for maintaining a slow over rate in the recent test match in the Centurion. They have been fined 10% of their match fees for the same. India have now gone from the fifth position to the sixth position at the WTC points table. Team India were two overs short of target after the consideration of the time and the players have been fined 5% of their match fee and the team has fallen down one step lower at the WTC points table.
