Novak Djokovic advanced to the third round after he defeated the Australian, Alexei Popyrin on Wednesday evening. The 24 time Grand-Slam champion was a set down in in the second game but fought hard to continue his winning streak and defeated the Australian 6-3,4-6,7-6 (4),6-3.
Alexei Popyrin though hit 24 aces and winners than Djokovic but he also made 26 unforced errors than Djokovic. The match lasted for over 3 hours.
Djokovic also replied back to a heckler during the fourth set but after the Aussie’s error on a point, that made Djokovic win the match he turned the crowd around and celebrated and yelled.
Alexei Popyrin needed some treatment on his calf midway in the game. He had some missed chances as Djokovic dominated the tiebreak and went ahead to win the victory despite some fans trying to distract him and pull him and his game down.
The Serbian is next playing Aretina’s Tomas Etcheverry on Friday the 19th of January in the Rod Laver Arena
