Australia wins women’s T20 World Cup for 6th time

The Women’s T20 World Cup Finals was held in Cape Town, South Africa. The Australian Women’s team won the ‘T20 World Cup Finals’ for the 6th time and created history. Australia defeated South Africa by 19 runs and created a record for the most amount of tournament wins.

Australia won the toss and chose to bat first. Australia made a score of 156/6 in 20 overs while South Africa could only make a score of 137/6.

The hopes of South Africa winning the trophy went down the drain, after the Proteas opener, Laura Wolvaardt was out at 61 runs in 48 balls. 

On the other side, Australia’s opener, Beth Mooney took the score to 156/6 in 20 overs by making 74 runs in 53 balls till the very end and mended the innings. She won the 'Player of the Match ' title. Australia’s Ashleigh Gardner also bagged the title of the ‘ICC Player of the Tournament award’ in appreciation of her all-around efforts in the World Cup.
