Opening with Khawaja and Konstas
Ever since David Warner retired from test cricket, the Aussies have experimented a lot with their opening pair. Usman Khawaja has been constant, but his partners have kept changing. Sam Konstas, the young Australian, is regarded as Australia’s future batting maestro and he showed glimpses of what he could do on a cricket field against India in the Border Gavaskar Trophy, the way the young boy took on the world’s best bowler Bumrah was truly exceptional and proved how strong he is mentally. Sam Konstas can open the batting for the Aussies as he is that point of difference you need in a final.
Australian middle order to win it again?
Australia has the most balanced batting lineup in world of cricket. Marnus and Smith are the most consistent test batsmen in the world, and they have always saved the Aussies from collapses many times during this WTC cycle. Steven Smith is regarded as the best test batsman of this generation, and the Aussies will be expecting some good innings from their star batter in the upcoming WTC final. Travis Head, who scored 448 runs against India in the recent series, will be looking to repeat his performance from the last WTC final, where he took the Aussies over the line all by himself. Australia will be hoping that all their star players will be performing on the biggest stage of them all at the home of cricket, Lord’s.
Pace trio for the final?
Australia has included Josh Hazelwood in the squad, who returns from an injury, and he will be accompanied by his Captain, Cummins, and Starc in the bowling line up . This pace trio has destroyed every batting line up they have faced and they will be looking to swing some balls into the stumps of South Africa’s batters. They will also have the services of Nathan Lyon who has been the best Australian spinner of this generation.
Cameron Green returns
Star Australian all-rounder Cameron Green is back in the squad after a long absence from cricket due to his surgery and will be looking to help his team win another ICC trophy.
Australia will be entering the Final as the clear favorites due to their recent form, where they have defeated India at home and Sri Lanka at their home. The Aussies have assembled a great squad once again in an ICC fixture and will be looking to add another milestone in their trophy cabinet and legacy.
