The saga surrounding Mbappé's future move has been a rollercoaster ride, creating a lot of buzz in the football community. Following months of speculation, negotiations, and conflicting reports, it appears that 25 year old French Forward, Kylian Mbappé has made his decision to depart his club, Paris Saint-Germain once his contract expires this summer, with just five months remaining to potentially join the Los Blancos, which was very much anticipated.
As reports indicate Mbappe's transfer to Real Madrid and departure from PSG is anticipated to be soon confirmed by Mbappe himself. Though PSG has internally confirmed Mbappe's exit, Mbappe must personally inform Nasser Al-Khelaifi, President of the Club about his decision before making any official agreements.
With a twist in the Saga, Both Liverpool and Real Madrid are eyeing Kylian Mbappe. Real Madrid has been consistently viewed as his ‘final’ destination, but Liverpool is also linked with him as they search for players who could potentially replace Mohamed Salah, who is linked with the Saudi Pro League. Despite this, journalist Andres Onrubia from Spanish outlet Cadena SER has indicated that "Mbappe has not yet signed for any team at this time, even though many assume that everything is resolved with Real Madrid."
Moreover, Mbappe has made 'three' conditions to clubs interested in signing him this summer, which "rules out many clubs from the race for his high salary." Mbappe's reported salary demands have been cited as an impediment for potential suitors, including Liverpool and Arsenal.
The ‘three conditions’ include a hefty €50m gross salary per season, a substantial transfer bonus of €120m, and additional bonuses primarily tied to image rights. PSG is currently unaware of any definitive decision made by Mbappé regarding his future, thus they intend to take a proactive approach by adhering to the same terms agreed upon by the player in 2022, including a salary of 72 million euros gross per season, which is his current earnings, and a transfer bonus of 130 million euros, as reported.
For Mbappé, transfer to Real Madrid represents not only a significant milestone in his illustrious career but also the realisation of a childhood dream as he will join forces with football stars like Vinicius Junior and Jude Bellingham. Mbappé aims to strengthen an already powerful Madrid squad, set to dominate both domestic and European competitions.
But, amidst Rumours and contradictory reports, one aspect that cannot be ignored is the impact of this ‘transfer saga’ on Mbappe's reputation as one of young football stars. With so many achievements at the age of 25 years old, including being a World Cup winner and his dazzling performances for Paris Saint-Germain, this ‘will he, won’t he’ will raise questions about his commitment and loyalty to his current club, PSG. All the focus has shifted away from his on-field performance to the seemingly endless negotiations over contracts and transfer fees.
For PSG, Mbappé's potential departure would certainly be a setback, especially considering the recent exits of key figures like Neymar and Lionel Messi. PSG has strategized their decision regarding Mbappé. Their primary strategy is optimistic: to retain him at the club, extend his contract, and continue building the team around him. However, they also have a backup plan in case Mbappé departs as a free agent, reportedly considering AC Milan's Rafael Leão as a potential replacement.
Given Mbappé's history of reversing decisions, such as his previous U-turn over a move to the Bernabéu in 2022, it's impossible to say anything with absolute certainty. There's always the possibility that he could change his mind until the deal is officially signed by both parties.
