भारत-म्यांमार सीमा को बांग्लादेश सीमा संरक्षित किया जाएगा

समाचार एजेंसी पीटीआई के मुताबिक, केंद्रीय गृह मंत्री अमित शाह ने शनिवार को घोषणा की कि देश घुसपैठियों से बचाने के लिए म्यांमार के साथ अपनी सीमा पर बाड़ लगाएगा, जैसे उसने बांग्लादेश के साथ सीमा पर बाड़ लगाई है।

उन्होंने कहा, "भारत-म्यांमार सीमा को बांग्लादेश सीमा की तरह संरक्षित किया जाएगा... भारत सरकार म्यांमार के साथ मुक्त आवाजाही रोक देगी।"

पिछले साल सितंबर में, मणिपुर के मुख्यमंत्री एन बीरेन सिंह ने केंद्र सरकार से "अवैध आप्रवासन" से निपटने के लिए भारत-म्यांमार सीमा पर फ्री मूवमेंट रिजीम (एफएमआर) को रोकने का आग्रह किया था। उन्होंने कहा कि म्यांमार के साथ राज्य की सीमा पर बाड़ लगाने के प्रयास जारी हैं।

भारत और म्यांमार के बीच 1,643 किमी की सीमा में से केवल 10 किमी मणिपुर, मिजोरम, नागालैंड और अरुणाचल प्रदेश से होकर गुजरती है। भारत-म्यांमार सीमा के पास रहने वाले लोगों के बीच मजबूत जातीय और पारिवारिक संबंधों के कारण, एफएमआर को 1970 के दशक में लागू किया गया था।

शाह ने पूर्वोत्तर राज्यों के लिए पीएम मोदी की नीतियों की सराहना करते हुए कहा कि प्रधानमंत्री के नेतृत्व के परिणामस्वरूप पिछले दस वर्षों में देश की कानून व्यवस्था में महत्वपूर्ण सुधार हुआ है और पूर्वोत्तर में शांति और विकास लाने का लक्ष्य पूरा हो गया है।

केंद्रीय मंत्री ने दावा किया कि बोडोलैंड में पिछले तीन वर्षों में कोई हिंसक घटना नहीं हुई है और यह विकास के मार्ग पर चलकर अपने इतिहास में एक नया अध्याय लिख रहा है।

Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced on Saturday that the country will fence its border with Myanmar to protect against intruders, just as it has barred the border with Bangladesh, according to news agency PTI.

Myanmar & India conflict

Speaking at the first-ever passing out parade of the five recently formed Assam Police Commando battalions, he stated that the Centre is considering terminating the free-movement arrangement with Myanmar.

"The India-Myanmar border will be protected like the Bangladesh border... The Government of India will stop the free movement with Myanmar," he said.

In September of last year, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh urged the Union government to halt the Free Movement Regime (FMR) along the Indo-Myanmar border to combat "illegal immigration". He added that efforts were on to fence the state's border with Myanmar.

Only 10 km of the 1,643 km border between India and Myanmar passes through Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Arunachal Pradesh. Due to the strong ethnic and familial links among the people who live near the India-Myanmar border, the FMR was implemented in the 1970s.

Criticizing the opposition

Earlier in the day, Shah criticized the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, claiming that the party's stance in Assam's Bodoland has been to divert attention away from major concerns while remaining in power, even though thousands of young people have died.

"The Bodo movement has had its history. To protect their culture, the Bodos had a massive struggle. Due to Congress' policy to create distractions from the main issues and stay immersed in power, thousands of youths lost their lives. While some lost their brothers, some lost their fathers, some lost their wives," Shah said at the 13th Triennial Conference of the All Bathou Mahasabha in Tezpur.

Shah praised PM Modi's policies for the northeastern states, stating that the prime minister's leadership has resulted in a significant improvement in the nation's law and order over the past ten years and that the aim of bringing peace and development to the northeast has been accomplished.

The union minister claimed that Bodoland has not had any violent incidents in the previous three years and that by following the route of development, it is writing a new chapter in its history.
