“Petul”
I Must say, most of you will have nostalgic memories of this small little wooden box and many may have preserved it too.
May it be of our parents, grandparents, or even great-grandparents.
Petul was Shaving Box for men and a Make-up or Jewellery Box for ladies. As there was a mirror inside the box it was very easy and convenient. Also, all required items could be stored, latched/ locked, and carried.
This was one such item that the brides carried along with her at the time of marriage along with Kumkum Karand, Comb, Kajal, Talc Power, Ribbion, etc and even some amount of cash collected/gifted mostly hidden from their family members, especially husbands😜.
( No much of makeup items were used then hence space was quite sufficient).
Well, if you own one, preserve it and also start using it.
