Under the Agnipath program, the Indian Army has changed how recruits would join the force.
Candidates will now be required to take a physical fitness and medical exam before taking an online common entrance examination (CEE).
The modification to the selection procedure was made to cut down on the expenses associated with holding recruitment rallies for medical and physical examinations.
Because only those who passed the entrance exam will be allowed to take the medical and physical examinations, it will also reduce the administrative and logistical burden.
From the next recruitment cycle in 2023 to 2024, approximately 40,000 candidates who are interested in joining the army will be subject to the new procedure. PTI was informed by sources that the nation's first online CEE will likely take place in approximately 200 locations in April.

Aspirants whose applications are accepted will have to give an e-exam. After they clear the exam, the applicant will be invited to appear for the Physical Fitness Test (PMT).
To qualify for the PMT round an aspirant has to cover an area of 1.6 km with 5 min 30 sec running, pull-ups, 9 feet zig-zag balance. The aspirants who will clear the PET/PMT round will move toward the Medical Test.
