World's Largest Uncut Emerald Discovered in Zambia 

The Guinness World Record keeps a record of every extraordinary thing it finds unique. The latest addition to the list is all set to make your jaw drop. The extraordinary discovery of the piece of uncut emerald is 7,525 carats and weighs 1.505 kg is a gem that was unearthed in Zambia.

The GWR published a blog revealing information about the discovery. They shared the link to the blog on the social media platform Facebook. The post received humungous reactions saying how incredible the piece looks just like a fictional Kryptonite.

A Facebook user joked around saying, “Are you sure that's not Kryptonite?” and another shared the reference saying, “I’m worried this will be used against Superman,” which meant that it looks as if Superhero gets vulnerable after looking at a Kryptonite was his reaction. A third posted, “Superman just left the group” while another one carried the fun by saying, “OMG, Superman is in trouble, let's help him... I don't think he will ever travel to Zambia again…’’

Chipembele uncut

On the blog, the GWR shared information that revealed that geologists Manas Banerjee and Richard Kapeta had first discovered the gem in 2021 along with their team members in a mine located in Copperbelt Province of Zambia. Soon after the discovery was made it was named Chipembele. According to the local dialect of Bemba people in Zambia, it means “rhino”.

The Gemfields and the Industrial Development Corporation of the country are the owners of the emerald mine.  Two other emeralds, Chipembele were previously found at the same site. One of them is called Insofu “elephant” which was discovered in 2010. The other one was discovered in the year 2018 and is called Inkalamu or “lion”.
