Police in Thailand have apprehended 80 Indian gamblers, including Telangana's Chikoti Praveen, Madhav Reddy (who is a suspect in a case by the Enforcement Directorate in Hyderabad), and Chitti Devender Reddy, the Chairman of the Medak District Cooperative Central Bank. The group is accused of being part of a massive gambling operation in Pattaya, which Praveen allegedly established with the assistance of Thai women. According to sources, people from various regions of India, including Hyderabad, were brought in for gambling.
The police interrupted the group's plans to depart for India on Monday morning by conducting a late-night raid on their hotel. Acting on information received from detectives, the Thai police apprehended the 80 Indian nationals at the Asia Pattaya Hotel located in Tambon Nong Prue's Soi Phra Tamnak 4 area in the Bang Lamung District. The gamblers were utilizing a conference room called Sampao for their activities. Reportedly, the group had amassed a total of Rs. 100 crore in their possession. Gambling is viewed as a severe offense in Thailand, which is predominantly Buddhist.
