The rugby pitch-sized T-shirt that broke the Guinness World Record for biggest T-shirt is made completely of recyclable materials. Asociatia 11even, Kaufland Romania, and Federatia Romana developed it with the intention of encouraging more people to recycle. According to the records website, the T-shirt has a staggering width of 73.48 meters (or 241.08 feet) and a length of 108.96 meters (357.48 feet). More than 500,000 recycled plastic bottles were used to make the fabric for this first-ever T-shirt. It took seamstresses over a month to sew and more than three weeks to collect the bottles.
In terms of the design, it is a reimagined version of the Romanian national flag, a tricolor belt used on the Romanian rugby team's official jersey. "GWR noted that Asociatia 11 even had the idea of breaking this record as part of a recycling campaign to challenge kids and adults all over Romania to not only recycle but to also be a part of a world record," adding that the company had previously established the record for the largest human representation of a country or continent in the world.
The company enlisted the assistance of the local supermarket Kaufland Romania in order to produce this T-shirt. The supermarket helped by collecting more than twice as many plastic bottles as were required to make the shirt. This supermarket also sells regular-sized T-shirts with this design. When it comes to unfurling the T-shirt, the records website stated that more than 120 volunteers from Bucharest's rugby clubs helped lay it out on the field of the Arcul de Triumf National Rugby Stadium on the day of the attempt. Unfortunately, it required an entire day to spread out it totally!"
However, there were a few issues with anchoring the sleeves, which were eventually resolved by a team of engineers and special straps, making it challenging. Specialist surveyors measured the T-shirt in order to verify the record, and Guinness World Records verified the evidence remotely. While trying to additional spread the message of supportability, Asociata 11even means to give 12,000 ordinary size Shirts made from this massive article of clothing.
