₹6.78 Crore Fake Currency Racket Busted in Hyderabad; 4 Arrested for Posing as Police to Rob Buyers

Hyderabad Police Bust Fake Currency Racket; Counterfeit Notes Worth ₹6.78 Crore Seized

In a major crackdown, Hyderabad's Future City Police have busted a counterfeit currency racket and seized fake ₹500 notes with a face value of ₹6.78 crore. Four suspects were arrested after police intercepted their car near Ramoji Film City on NH-65.

A subsequent raid in Kuntloor uncovered an illegal currency printing unit equipped with printers, laptops and cutting machines.

According to investigators, the gang allegedly lured victims by offering ₹3–4 lakh in counterfeit notes in exchange for ₹1 lakh in genuine cash. They would then stage fake police raids using forged identity cards and a dummy pistol, threaten the buyers and escape with their real money.
