Rap Star French Montana's Music Video Shoot Ends in Gunfire, Leaving 10 Injured

On the evening of Jan. 5, shots were fired near The Licking restaurant in Miami Gardens, Fla., where a music video for rapper French Montana was being filmed. Police said that a fight started somewhere else and ended at the restaurant. According to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, when emergency personnel arrived at the restaurant, they discovered "several patients suffering traumatic injuries," with a total of ten injured individuals. 

 

Rapper, singer and songwriter French Montana are of Moroccan-American descent. Karim Kharbouch was born in Rabat, Morocco, and immigrated to America at 13.

Montana gained fame with his debut single, "Choppa Choppa Down," released in 2011. He has released several successful albums, including "Excuse My French" (2013) and "Jungle Rules" (2017).
