Notorious serial killer Charles Sobhraj could be set free by Nepal

Jail authorities in Nepal have refused to release serial killer Charles Sobhraj even as the country's Supreme Court ordered his release.

Charles Sobhraj is a convicted serial killer and con artist who operated in Southeast Asia during the 1970s. He is known for committing a series of murders and thefts in Thailand, India, Nepal, and other countries, often targeting backpackers and tourists. Sobhraj was arrested in 1976 and later sentenced to life imprisonment in Nepal for the murder of two tourists.

He has also been convicted of other crimes and is considered one of the most notorious serial killers in history.

Sobhraj, also known as the “Bikini Killer”, was convicted of murdering two Western tourists in 1975 and was later linked to at least a dozen other murders in Asia.  The decision to release Sobhraj has sparked outrage from victims’ families and human rights groups, who say that he should remain behind the bars for his crimes. Many fear that Sobhraj will continue to pose a threat to society if he is released, as he has shown little remorse for his actions and has a history of manipulating and evading authorities.

Sobhraj’s release has also raised concerns about the safety of tourist in Nepal, as he targeted foreigners during his killing spree. The Nepalese government has assured the public that Sobhraj will be closely monitored upon his release, but many remain skeptical.

It remains to be seen what Sobhraj’s future holds, but his notorious past is sure to continue to haunt him and those affected by his crimes.
