The NFT industry has seen remarkable profitability this year, prompting Louis Vuitton to jump on the NFT bandwagon and offer its loyal customers a virtual indulgence. The esteemed French luxury brand aims to transform its iconic travel trunk into a digital collectable, making its mark in the NFT space. This strategic move aligns with the current "phygital" trend, blending physical and digital elements in advertising.
Dubbed the VIA Treasure Trunk, the NFT carries a hefty price tag of €39,000 (approximately Rs. 34 lahks )and is targeted towards individuals with a thirst for new experiences and a desire to explore alternative realities. Holders of this permanent and non-transferable NFT gain exclusive access to the Maison of Louis Vuitton's design house, along with the privilege of previewing unreleased designs from the brand. CoinTelegraph reports that Louis Vuitton plans to release a limited number of signature trunk NFTs, with several hundred in the pipeline. Interested buyers must register with a valid crypto wallet and join the waitlist, starting on June 8. On June 14, a select group of individuals from the waitlist will be invited to an exclusive preview page for the NFT.
Louis Vuitton's foray into the Web3 space is not new. The brand previously collaborated with Prada and Cartier on the aura Blockchain solution, which aimed to enhance the customer experience. In addition, as part of their latest initiative, Louis Vuitton has introduced a metaverse game, where players can embark on a quest to discover 30 hidden NFTs associated with the brand.
With the ongoing expansion of Web3, numerous brands are entering the NFT market, offering digital representations of their iconic products to complement the original physical items.
