Earthquakes in China, Afghanistan; thrice in J&K, tremors felt in Delhi too

Afghanistan was shaken on Saturday by an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.8, according to the National Center for Seismology. At a depth of 181 km, it occurred at 9.31 p.m.

According to the National Centre for Seismology, the earthquake's epicenter was in Afghanistan's Hindukush area at 36.38 degrees north latitude and 70.77 degrees east longitude.

On Saturday evening at around 9:30 pm, after a 5.8 magnitude earthquake struck Afghanistan, tremors were felt in some areas of Delhi-NCR and surrounding regions, Jammu and Kashmir, and on the border regions of Afghanistan and Pakistan.

The cities of Rajouri, Srinagar, Gulmarg, Katra, the base camp of the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu and Kashmir, along with other locations in Pakistan, namely Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and Peshawar, were also affected by the tremors.

According to reports, after the tremor, locals fled their homes out of fear.

According to Preeti Shankar, who lives in a high-rise apartment in Noida on the eastern outskirts of the city, "The quake hit twice at around 9:30 pm."

Earthquakes regularly occur in Afghanistan, particularly in the Hindu Kush mountain region, which is close to the intersection point of the Eurasian and Indian tectonic plates.

As of Saturday, Jammu and Kashmir have been shaken by three earthquakes.

An earthquake that struck Pakistan and the Hindu Kush region earlier that morning at 8.36 am and 10.24 am, respectively, shook the area.

According to NCS, an earthquake of a magnitude of 5.2 struck Gulmarg in Jammu and Kashmir at 8:36 am on August 5th, at a depth of about 129 km.

But so far, no injuries or damages have been reported.
