Cannes Film Festival 2023: Ishanou, Agra and Kennedy are the three Indian films to be screened

The 2023 Cannes Film Festival is set to showcase several Indian films, generating excitement in the global film industry. Two highly anticipated films are director Anurag Kashyap's Kennedy and actor Rahul Roy's Agra.

Produced by Zee Studios and Good Bad Films, Kennedy is a police noir film with a polar twist. It follows an ex-cop battling insomnia, who is thought to be dead but is still working for a corrupt system and searching for redemption. Rahul Bhat and Sunny Leone play the leading roles in the movie. Kashyap acknowledged his team and partners and attributed the inspiration for the film to Patrick Manchette, Jacques Tardi, and Melville.

Agra is directed by Kanu Behl and produced by Saregama India Ltd, UFO Production, and O28 Films. The movie will make its world debut in the Directors' Fortnight category of the festival.

The film features an ensemble cast, including Rahul Roy, Priyanka Bose, Mohit Agarwal, Ruhani Sharma, Vibha Chibber, Sonal Jha, and Aanchal Goswami. The work delves into the sexual power dynamics within a family and the dystopian ruptures that are produced in contemporary India.

In addition, the Cannes Classic section will feature Ishanou, an award-winning film by Manipuri filmmaker Aribam Syam Sharma.

India's film industry has been gaining recognition on the global stage in recent years, and these selections for Cannes 2023 further highlight the country's rich and diverse film culture.
