On Sunday, an airport in Russia's Caucasus republic of Dagestan was overrun by a mob searching for Israelis and Jews, after rumours spread that a flight was arriving from Israel.
According to France24, The governor of Dagestan made a promise to punish those responsible for the incident, and it seems like he's keeping his word. As per the latest update from the republic's interior ministry, they have identified over 150 people involved in the unrest, out of which 60 have already been arrested.
Multiple protesters, many chanting "Allahu akbar" (God is greatest), stormed Makhachkala airport by breaking through doors and barriers, with some rushing onto the runway, according to reports.
Russia's aviation agency Rosaviatsiya quickly announced that it had closed the airport to incoming and outgoing flights, and security forces had arrived.
