You should know: The Jan Samman video contest in Rajasthan

Ashok Gehlot, the chief minister of Rajasthan, inaugurated a video competition on Friday. The winners would receive cash awards totaling up to Rs. 1 lakh per day from the government.

Gehlot introduced the "Jan Samman Video Contest" on Friday. Participants will create brief videos on the government's initiative. According to a government source, the goal of this competition is to raise public knowledge of the best schemes the Rajasthani government has to offer.

Every day, the winner will receive cash awards ranging from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 1 lakh. Anyone who is at least 13 years old may enter this competition.

According to contest authorities, participants must create a video between 30 and 120 seconds in length, publish it on two social media sites, and then submit the URLs to the video on jansamman.rajasthan.gov.in. Aside from the 10 flagship programs within the inflation relief camps, multiple videos may be made about any government initiative.

In a video statement, CM Gehlot said, “About 1.80 crore families participated and got the registration done in inflation relief camps and I covered about 10,000 km yatra. I have seen the enthusiasm among people and thus this contest has been started so that the common man can connect.”

“The only and only purpose of this contest is to connect the remaining 1.5 million families apart from 180,000 families,” he said.

Further encouraging citizens to take action, the chief minister said that no family should be left without access to state government assistance.

A senior official with knowledge of the situation remarked that it frequently occurs that the general public is unaware of the government's efforts on their behalf, as well as the programs and advantages they have created. He added that the contest would run from July 7 to August 6, explaining that the Rajasthan government will create an educational campaign that is fun and innovative in light of this.

Political analyst Manish Godha responded to this by saying “It is an interesting and unique marketing strategy which the Congress always lacked and BJP (Bharatiya Janata Party) was ahead. The concept is unique and first of its kind in the country.”

According to him, this looks to be a ground-breaking notion given how passionate individuals are about making reels on social media and being connected to them.

BJP MLA and former minister Vasudev Devnani commented on it, saying “It seems Gehlot has lost faith in himself and coming up with such ideas to publicize their schemes. There is no use of such concepts where you are luring people, had it been by self-motivated it would have created a difference.”
