US Notifies India of Lawrence Bishnoi's Brother Anmol, Mumbai Police Seek Extradition

Synopsis: In a major development, US authorities have informed Mumbai Police about the presence of Anmol Bishnoi, younger brother of notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, within their country. The Mumbai Police have initiated the process of his extradition, connecting him to several high-profile cases, including a firing outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan's residence and the murder of former MLA Baba Siddique. With multiple cases registered against him, Anmol remains a significant figure in India's crackdown on organized crime.

US informs India of Anmol Bishnoi's whereabouts: Mumbai Police launch extradition process

As a huge effort towards smashing the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, US authorities have given a heads up to Mumbai Police stating Anmol Bishnoi, brother of Lawrence is there. Twenty-five years of age Anmol Bishnoi is supposed to be one of the minds who strategized various operation in infamous Lawrence Bishnoi Gang, confirmed cops regarding multiple huge ticket crime for which the police started initiating extradition procedures.

Mumbai Police Crime Branch, soon after this critical alert has initiated the official procedure to get Anmol Bishnoi extradited. This month, the Crime branch approached a special court here and filed all details there. On October 16, they updated the court that the extradition will relate to the firing incident that took place outside the house of Bollywood actor Salman Khan earlier this year. This attack is suspected to have been carried out under Anmol's directives, as his elder brother Lawrence Bishnoi is currently incarcerated.

Involved in High-Profile Crimes

Apart from the Salman Khan case, Anmol Bishnoi has been found involved in many murder cases. One such recent murder case is NCP leader Baba Siddique's murder case, wherein it was revealed that his name was there along with the fact that he used to communicate with the shooter who attacked on him. Recently, the National Investigation Agency announced an award of ₹10 lakhs to any person who could provide information which led to the arrest of Anmol. Currently, eighteen criminal cases are going on against the name of Anmol and one such case includes giving weapons that murdered Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala in the year 2022.

Extradition Process in Action

Mumbai Police have been able to get a Red Corner Notice (RCN) issued against Anmol. US authorities have contacted India after getting the RCN, informing them about Anmol's location. Whether Anmol is under arrest or not is not known, but his location within the US must have been tracked. After the court gives its nod, relevant documents have been sent to the
Ministry of Home Affairs. The Ministry of External Affairs will liaise with the US authorities for finalizing the extradition.

If everything goes according to plan, Anmol will be handed over to the Crime Branch of the Mumbai Police, which had first mooted the RCN. However, so far the police have not received the custody of Lawrence, Anmol's brother, who is lodged in Sabarmati Jail, Gujarat.

Interestingly, this development comes at a time when Canadian authorities have accused agents of the Indian government of collaborating with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang to spread terror in Canada. New Delhi has strongly rejected the accusations, terming them baseless.

US in Action

Another significant alert is that of Anmol Bishnoi, where the US Department of Justice is involved in a completely different case. This one involves an alleged murder plot against Khalistan separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, which also included Bishnoi gang members. The main accused in the case, Vikash Yadav, was arrested by the Delhi Police in December 2023 for another extortion case unrelated to the present one, further interlinking the Bishnoi gang with criminal activities around the world.
