Trinamool Congress Leader Arrested by CBI in Bengal School Recruitment Scandal

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Santu Ganguly, a Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader from Behala and a close associate of former Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee, for his alleged involvement in the school jobs scam. Ganguly was detained on Monday evening after extensive questioning at the CBI's city office, according to officials.

Evidence of Monetary Irregularities

A CBI officer revealed that evidence links Ganguly to the scam, including proof of monetary transactions. During an earlier raid on Ganguly's Behala residence, several bank-related documents connected to the case were seized.

"Ganguly has maintaned close ties with Partha Chatterjee. Despite being summoned, he remained uncooperative throughout the interrogation. His custody was necessary for further investigation," the oifficer stated.

Previous ED Investigation

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had previously interrogated Ganguly and conducted searches at his residence as part of its investigation into irregularities in recruitment for state-run primary schools.

The school jobs scam, which has rocked Bengal's political landscape, continues to see high-profile arrests as agencies deepen their probe into recruitment irregularities and financial misconduct.
