On Wednesday, the Sangeet Natak Akademi awards ceremony honored more than 90 artists from Indian classical music, dance, theatre, folk art, and scholarship.
President Droupadi Murmu, Culture Minister Kishan Reddy, Minister of State for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal, Chairman of Sangeet Natak Akademi Sandhya Purecha, and Culture Ministry Secretary Govind Mohan attended the ceremony, which was held at Vigyan Bhavan for the 2022 and 2023 editions.
Murmu underscored the significance of performing arts in India's past, stating that art "has societal value too, and makes people better." We can become more sympathetic through art when we deviate from dharma. "I hope the Akademi continues to give artists these kinds of opportunities," she remarked.

Reddy praised the diversity of the winners and emphasized the Akademi's role in advancing the arts. "We should conserve our historical artistic traditions while also utilizing technology to support them." For that reason, the Akademi is creating an online database of critics and academics," he stated.
We are honoring the (practitioners of) the most significant organs of Indian art and culture," Meghwal stated. These performers have put in a great deal of effort to progress in their fields. We can access our culture thanks to artists. Now is the ideal moment for them to thrive.
Purecha stated, "This is a day of pride. The artists receiving awards today have preserved the honor of their respective disciplines. I honor them, as well as their teachers. Because practical challenges are easier to address than immaterial ones (like art), you preserve our culture and legacy through your work.
Hindustani vocalist Kalapini Komkali, dramatist Asif Ali Haider Khan, martial artist Gurpreet Singh Khalsa, and dancer Manjula Ramaswamy were among the artists that received felicitations. Five artists also received fellowships.
