The Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has given its approval for the Thane Integral Ring Metro Rail Project in Maharashtra. This 29-kilometer corridor will run along the western periphery of Thane city, featuring 22 stations.

The metro line will be bordered by the Ulhas River on one side and Sanjay Gandhi National Park on the other. This new transportation system aims to provide a sustainable and efficient mode of travel, boosting the city's economic potential and reducing road congestion.
Funding:
- Equal equity contributions from the Government of India and Government of Maharashtra
- Partial funding from bilateral agencies
- Innovative financing methods, including station naming rights, corporate access rights, asset monetization, and Value Capture Financing

Maha Metro will execute the project, overseeing civil works, electro-mechanical systems, and other associated facilities. Pre-bid activities and tender document preparation are already underway, with contracts to be released for bidding immediately.
