PM Modi to Start 3-Day US Visit Tomorrow: Strategic Talks Ahead

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a three-day visit to the United States starting this Saturday. The visit is expected to emphasize the importance of Indo-Pacific stability, address ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza, and discuss issues relevant to the Global South.

Key Meetings and Summits on the Agenda

During his visit, PM Modi will participate in several high-profile events, including the annual Quad Leaders' Summit in Wilmington, Delaware. He will also address the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York and hold bilateral meetings with US President Joe Biden and other prominent global leaders. Additionally, Modi will meet with the Indian diaspora and engage in discussions with CEOs from leading American tech companies.

Focus on the Quad Summit

One of the central events of PM Modi’s visit will be the fourth Quad Leaders’ Summit, hosted by President Biden. The summit will also include Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. On the sidelines, PM Modi is expected to hold bilateral talks with all three Quad leaders.

The Quad Summit will prioritize enhancing cooperation among the member nations to ensure peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri has confirmed that the focus will be on peace, progress, and regional stability. Other global challenges, such as the conflicts in Gaza and Ukraine, climate change, health security, and counterterrorism, may also be addressed.

After attending the Quad Summit, PM Modi will travel to New York on September 22 to participate in the ‘Summit of the Future’ at the United Nations General Assembly. The summit will focus on addressing the concerns of the Global South and other pressing global issues. The theme of the event is ‘Multilateral Solutions for a Better Tomorrow,’ and it will witness participation from several world leaders.

While in New York, PM Modi is scheduled to address a gathering of the Indian community at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Long Island on September 22.
