In a bid to find the motives and intentions behind the unsettling Parliament security breach, the six accused involved in the chaotic incident of storming the Lok Sabha and deploying smoke canisters are undergoing psychological analysis conducted by a team of experts from the Delhi Police. This analysis aims to probe deeper into the psyche of the individuals, seeking insights beyond their disclosed reasons.
Why Psychoanalysis?
Conducted in a question-answer format by psychiatrists, this three-hour assessment explores the accused individuals' habits, routines, and behaviours. Investigators hope to decode the underlying purpose behind the committed offence based on the responses gathered.
Similar evaluations were conducted in past cases by the Delhi Police, notably in the Shraddha Walkar and Shahbad Dairy murder cases.
Finding Motives and Intentions:
During questioning, the accused asserted that their intent behind storming the Parliament was to highlight the challenges faced by farmers, unemployment concerns, and the ongoing issues in Manipur. They cited inspiration from the tactics employed by historical figure Bhagat Singh, who used smoke bombs during the British Raj to protest in the Central Legislative Assembly in 1929.
The accused claimed association with a social media group named 'Fans of Bhagat Singh,' connecting due to shared beliefs. They emphasized their lack of affiliation with any specific organization and insisted that their actions were solely driven by dissent, devoid of ulterior motives.
Psychological Assessment and Police Insights:
A team of medical experts and psychiatrists will administer tests to evaluate the mental state of the accused individuals—Sagar Sharma, Manoranjan D, Neelam, Amol Shinde, Lalit Jha, and Mahesh Kumawat—all charged under the UAPA by the Delhi Police Special Cell. Despite this, police have highlighted the accused individuals' apparent strong motivation and influence, mentioning their reluctance to cooperate fully with the investigation.
Ongoing Investigation and Extended Judicial Custody:
Authorities have not discarded the possibility of a mastermind orchestrating the breach, exploring financial transactions for potential leads. While Sagar, Manoranjan, Neelam, and Amol face an extended 15-day judicial custody, Lalit, identified as the mastermind, will remain in custody until January 5.
The investigation continues, with authorities probing deeper into the incident and the motivations behind it, aiming to uncover any additional factors that might have contributed to the security breach.
