In a major breakthrough, the Bhikangaon police in Khargone district have successfully busted an inter-state illegal arms smuggling module.

Acting on specific intelligence, a police team set up a blockade near a petrol pump in Saikhedi village and intercepted two suspects traveling on a motorcycle.

During the search, the police recovered eight country-made pistols from the suspects' bag.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Rahul Sen (32), a local resident acting as a middleman, and Lucky Gupta (21), a resident of Jalandhar, Punjab, who had traveled to Madhya Pradesh specifically to procure the illegal firearms.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the weapons were sourced from a local manufacturer in Signur village.

The police have seized the motorcycle and mobile phones used by the accused and are now investigating the wider network behind this illegal trade.

This incident highlights the persistent challenge of curbing the supply of illicit weapons from the Nimar region to other parts of India.
