A fighter jet of Indian Air Force - a MiG-29, crashed Near Agra. The incident happened around 4:20 PM.on Monday due to a technical malfunction, while it was on a routine training mission. The aircraft had departed from the Adampur air base in Punjab and was on way to Kheria air base in Agra.
The pilot, who is a Wing Commander skillfully diverted the aircraft to avoid populated areas and to avoid harm to life or property on the ground due to crash. The aircraft went down in an open field between the villages of Bagha and Baha within the Kagarol police station jurisdiction of Agra district. No casualties or damage to property were reported. The IAF confirmed this and has ordered to inquire into the cause of the accident. According to eyewitnesses the aircraft was flying erratically and engulfed in flames before getting crashed. Local resident said they saw the jet as a "fireball" before it hit the ground with a huge noise, 28 kilometers from Agra city. Emergency response teams such as fire brigades, were sent out.

This crash follows another incident which happened on September 2, when a MiG-29 fighter jet crashed in Barmer, Rajasthan, due to a technical snag and the pilot ejected safely. The IAF currently operates over 55 MiG-29s, most of which have been upgraded under a Rs 3,842 crore contract with Russia
