In preparation for the G20 summit, which will be held in the national capital from September 9 to 10, Northern Railways has decided to divert and stop more than 200 passenger trains from September 8 to 11.
The notification was issued on Saturday and said the trains would be diverted or stopped due to security reasons. The trains that will be affected include those that run from Delhi to South Haryana's Sonipat-Panipat, Rohtak, Rewari, and Palwal routes.
The railways have advised passengers to check the status of their trains before travelling.
The government is closely monitoring the security arrangements for the summit. The railways have also increased security at all stations in Delhi.
The upcoming G20 summit in New Delhi will have the largest number of participants in the group's history. Adequate arrangements have been made for the stay of leaders of member and invited guest countries.
The Group of Twenty (G20) comprises 19 countries - Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, US, UK and the European Union. India has extended invitations to Bangladesh, Egypt, Mauritius, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Oman, Singapore, Spain, and the United Arab Emirates as guest countries for the big event.
