Atul Subhash, a 34-year-old tech professional, was discovered dead in his Bengaluru home on Monday. The police confirmed that Atul died by suicide, leaving behind a poignant 24-page death note.

Last Post on Social Media Raised Alarm

Before his death, Atul made a final post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). He described India as experiencing a "legal genocide of men," and called on high-profile figures like Elon Musk and Donald Trump to intervene. His post urgently pleaded for help, stating, "I will be dead when you read this," and urged them to "save millions of lives from woke ideologies, abortion, DEI, and restore freedom of speech."

Personal Struggles and Allegations Against Wife

Atul, originally from Uttar Pradesh, had been living alone in Bengaluru’s Marathahalli area after separating from his wife. In his letter, he blamed his wife and her family for causing him immense distress, citing ongoing marital issues and harassment. He also shared his grievances with several people and an NGO group he was involved with.

Atul's brother, Bikas Kumar, spoke to ANI, expressing his belief that the legal system unfairly favours women over men. He mentioned that his brother had been facing legal battles after his wife filed for divorce, accusing Atul and his family of various charges. "Every law in India is for women, and not for men," said Bikas, stressing that Atul had been fighting for fairness before his tragic death.

Father Reveals Struggles with Legal System

Pawan Kumar, Atul’s father, shared further details of his son’s emotional toll, revealing that Atul had to travel to Jaunpur repeatedly for court cases filed by his wife. Despite his frustration, Atul never openly expressed his struggles to the family. "He must have been frustrated but never let us feel that," said Pawan Kumar.

Atul had created a chilling checklist before his death, detailing tasks to be completed on his final day. His list included ensuring his finances and legal matters were in order, deleting his phone’s fingerprint data, and uploading his suicide note. His last actions were meticulously planned, including leaving his car’s location and sending goodbye messages to family and lawyers.

Calls for Justice

Bikas Kumar has called for a thorough investigation into his brother's death. He has urged the government and the President of India to seek justice, claiming that Atul had been wronged by the system. In his letter, Atul had even requested that his remains be devoted to the Ganges if justice was served, or discarded in a gutter if not.

The case has raised serious questions about the pressures faced by individuals in difficult legal and personal circumstances, and the importance of addressing mental health and legal fairness in India.
Atul Subhash's tragic end has sparked widespread conversations about the treatment of men in marital disputes, the legal system, and the pressures of societal expectations. As investigations continue, his family calls for justice and accountability.
